From 4 to 6 September 2026, the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg, the Netherlands, will host the Akhal-Teke Championship 2026 – World Beauty Championship & Equestrian Sports Competition of the Heavenly Akhal-Teke Horses of Turkmenistan.
Organised by the Akhal-Teke Horse Association (ATHA), the event will bring together equestrian sport, breed presentation, culture and heritage in an international celebration of one of the world’s most distinctive and historic horse breeds.
Across three days, visitors and invited guests will experience a varied programme combining Akhal-Teke beauty contests, dressage and show-jumping competitions, cultural performances, exhibitions and artistic presentations. The programme will culminate in the selection of the World Champion Akhal-Teke, alongside the “Best Decorated Horse” competition and an award ceremony recognising achievements in both equestrian sport and creative arts.
The Championship will also provide a platform to explore the cultural and historical significance of the Akhal-Teke horse. On Friday, 4 September, an International Scientific & Practical Conference entitled “The Akhal-Teke Horse: The Turkmen Art of World-Class Horse Breeding” will address topics ranging from the history and development of the breed to breeding and veterinary practices, preservation of breed purity, equestrian art and the influence of Akhal-Teke horses on global equestrian culture.
A special programme on Saturday, 5 September will welcome high-level guests and Dutch authorities to Peelbergen Equestrian Centre, followed by exhibitions dedicated to Turkmen equestrian art, culture and creative heritage, as well as the European horse industry. The day will combine the Championship’s principal competitions with a buffet reception, awards and a gala dinner hosted by Turkmenistan.
The celebrations continue on Sunday, 6 September, with cultural performances at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre and the closing of the exhibition.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Benelux Countries will arrange complimentary return coach transport for registered guests travelling from Brussels and The Hague on Saturday, 5 September, with departure at 07:00 and return in the evening. Exact meeting points will be communicated to registered participants.
Join us in the Netherlands for a unique international gathering celebrating the beauty, elegance, sporting ability and cultural legacy of the Akhal-Teke horse.
