Buscardini Communications, in cooperation with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium, is pleased to invite you to a briefing on the next chapter in Belgium–Kazakhstan and EU–Kazakhstan relations, following the Belgian royal State Visit.

The State Visit of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde to Kazakhstan on 12–14 October 2026, at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, marked an important milestone in the relationship between Brussels and Astana. It was the first Belgian royal State Visit to the country since diplomatic relations were established in 1992.

With activities in Astana and Almaty, the visit brought together political leaders, businesses and academic representatives to explore opportunities in transport, healthcare, critical minerals, technology, artificial intelligence and culture.

Over more than three decades, Belgium and Kazakhstan have developed strong ties across trade, investment, academic cooperation and culture. Kazakhstan’s strategic position along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor also makes it an increasingly important partner for connectivity between Europe and Asia.

The briefing will take stock of the visit’s key outcomes and look ahead: What comes next for Belgium–Kazakhstan relations? How can the momentum translate into deeper cooperation? And what role can Kazakhstan play in the EU’s evolving engagement with Central Asia? The discussion will also explore priorities for strengthening EU–Kazakhstan relations.

As Kazakhstan marks 35 years of independence, the discussion will provide an opportunity to reflect on its evolving relationship with Belgium and the European Union and explore the priorities shaping the next chapter. Held ahead of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day on 25 October 2026, the briefing will also honour this national celebration.
